Has anyone ever been to this?Considering going this year but will probably be going on my own. I'm a 33 year old woman will there be many around in my age group, is it easy to meet people and is it worth the money?

I went to the first one. It was fun, but it was all the same people you'd see in the George or Pantibar acting the same way. Everyone was looking for the craic and the sex to be epic, but not looking beyond the end of the weekend, and only looking at the younger lads.

If your expectations are realistic, you should have a good time. The sightseeing tours on it etc.., were excellent. (although a boat to the Aran Islands can be downright nauseating.)

The first one 3 years ago was great, danced to a great DJ (Conor Behan?) until 3.30am. Had great hopes for the second year but it all seemed a bit flat, it was poorly organised, several of the acts left a lot to be desired. Nothing ran on time, several acts never happened. Overall I thought there was far too much emphasis on drag (Jonny Woo is back yet again, am I the only one who think's he's rubbish?) and when we looked at the programme for last year it was even more so and decided to take a rain check on it. This year's programme looks like it was cut and pasted from the last two years with a few minor changes. I also felt that it wasn't worth the money we spent. I will say that there was a good mix there, something for everyone. I think if I was single I'd have had no problems meeting guys there but there were plenty of women there also (TBH, I prefer a mixed male and female crowd, everyone seemed to be getting on well together). I personally think that the festival would benefit from moving to a different venue each year but that's not going to happen as it's tied in with the matchmaking festival. It's definitely worth a try if you're hoping to meet new people.

I've been seeing adverts for the 2017 Outing in Lisdoonvarna in the gay media but when I look at their website and Facebook page, there is nothing about any of the entertainment this year (plenty about last year). They've been taking bookings for months for accommodation. Does anyone know if it's even going to happen this year? Surely with less than three months to go they should be better organised. I was tempted to give it a go again but now I'm having doubts.
