Is it possible to transfer to JST early? also a question about means.

Hi, I was wondering does anyone know if you're on jobseekers allowance is it possible to transfer early to JST before your youngest child turns 7? I know I would qualify for the one parent family payment but my youngest will turn 7 early next year anyway so I thought it would just be more convenient to switch to this now…

Also can anyone advise if I was to start a distance learning college course and a relative is paying that for me would that somehow count as means that I have?
