Hi there, we just got a 07 car that we were told if we test it early in october and it passes we get 2 years out of it.
Oct is right on the cusp, nct officially due January.

What I'm wondering is, if it fails..and we pass the retest within 21 days do we get two years out of it or will it then not count as early as it lapsed into the 90days?

Has to have passed outside the 90 day window.

Book it in ASAP, no point in hanging on to the last month possible and then failing.

    What's all this about?!

My wife bought an 07 car a few weeks ago, with an NCT expiry in early April, is there a way of getting a 2 year NCT on it??

You can book the test early so if you booked your car in early for January and it passes at least 90 days before due date in April you get 2 years NCT from the pass date. If you pass within 90 days of due date you get 1 years NCT.

I am in the same boat but booked it end of September to give me 3 weeks to fix so I will get the 2 years. Got letter from nct to tell me date I had to have passed test by to qualify for the 2 years. Just give yourself 2 to 3 weeks before date to allow to get any fixes done if any.

unfortunately, we just bought the car, and it only has 3-4week window, and there's a couple of things that need doing, and I'm not certain we'll get it done We'd have to book the nct for 2 weeks from now, to give us a chance if anything failed.
but, we're gonna give it a shot for 2 years peace :P
