Reading through this weeks journal I couldn't but notice how many different articles started with how the Ifa were giving a bit more of a fight.is it the fact Larry has pulled the levies that the Ifa now seem to be doing a bit more on the ground work, if it's true I might be more inclined to sign back up.

Can't say they look much different from last year, to be honest. Still leaning towards being respectable rather than representative of the wider farming community.

They need to put a serious effort in improving the prices the factories are paying now

We're the prices better when they were collecting the levy?

How would they go about that?

Whether levy is being collected or not, things will carry on as before.

not a member for years, but i think they need to take a page out of larrys book, when he got caught putting mares and foals into his burgers ,what did he do.......... sold it off so it would not bring him down as been still associated with that firm. ifa needs to change its name to get the farmers thinking different.

Ifa need to stop taking factory levies and put that foot forward themselves . .Show the farmer good will and then hit the road rebuilding there subscription for the farmer .let membership fees be their income and represent the people who put them there .Then work with the income you have and employ and cut you cloth accordingly .
Joe healy has one chance to push it right , otherwise all has been a big cockup

They need to set up a group to tackle the factories over the price difference between here and u.k and also cutting cattle for being overweight and for being over 30 months is their way of lowering the price

Factories will change nothing while there's enough cattle coming through their gates.....why would they.
often was on one of those groups, waste of time, on one occasion they had the price dropped before we got to the gate on the way out.
A bit of realism would be no harm on this forum.
Factories are laughing at us begging for change when there's nothing to threaten them with

Well maybe something like trying to guarantee a fair price with a factory or maybe I'm mad now but trying to set up their own factories to take on "big" Larry goodman. Something has to be fine one way or another

It's absolutely pointless arguing about low prices in a market that's over supplied. And really what do people think the IFA or ICSA can actually do to force the hand of the factories??

Imo we need live trade to take cattle out of the system and thats were our organisations need to focus some of their efforts!

Aren't they looking into stopping Larry buying slaney. Is that not why he stopped collecting the levys.

Give Joe time I think he will make a difference.

You'd be surprised what could be achieved if the will was there. In big business a man that can't be bought is a loose cannon.
