Im working in a sector were i work for a company and they pay for me to work at a certain place.

I have worked for the company many years and for the past 2 years i have been working at the same site. I was told by my company that this would be a permanent site.

I work 42 hours per week at this site and have done for the past 2 years.

The problem is the site no longer want me but want to keep the company, they want to replace me with someone else. I have asked for the reason that was given from the client, but they don't seem to want to give me one.

Does the client of my company have to give a reason as i would like to know?
My company say they are happy with me and have no issues what so ever, they say the client wants me gone.

Is this correct can i just be moved with no reason and no explanation?

If the client no longer want you working there they can ask for you to be replaced with no reason given

To answer your immediate question: no, your company's client doesn't have to give an explanation to you, because they have no relationship to you. We cannot tell if they have to give an explanation to your company, because we don't know what their contract with your company says.

Looking a the broader issue: What does your employment contract say?

Sometimes they name the client site (eg "you will work at the site of our client ABC Ltd in Ballywhatsit") - and in that case your employer either needs to either agree a contract change with you, or to make you redundant.

Often, though, they don't name the site, they just say something like "at the site of our clients in the Ballywhatit area". In that case, they can just move you to another site, and don't even have to tell you why they're doing it.

Now, since you have been at the same site for 2 years, maybe there's a legal case could be made that you were effectively working for the client, and therefore have some employment rights. This may spark some discussion here, which I'll certainly be reading with interest.

But if you want it to go beyond interesting discussion here to an actual legal argument, you will need some deep pockets to fund it. You could also find that your ability to get get more employment in the industry/area decreases.
