eBay selling limit

    Hi there

Wondering if anybody can help. I've a relatively high-value collectible item here that I've finally decided to sell (long story, but need the money) and so I turned to eBay in the hope of getting €1,000 to €1,200 for it.

I used to be active on eBay a few years ago but 90% or more as a buyer, not a seller. But I've neither bought nor sold on it in the past 18 months or more, I can't remember the password to that account, and since it was linked to an e-mail address I no longer have access to (it was a work address in a place I no longer work), I can't get into it at all.

I thought it would be a simple matter of creating a new account and listing the item for sale there, so that's what I've done. The item is currently up for sale and highest bid so far is €630, with almost five days left in the auction. I'm confident it will go up a good bit from there.

Now, here's my problem. I've just seen that as a new seller, I have a monthly selling limit of just €700. It seems the only way this can be increased is to link the account to an established seller account, which I don't have either.

So...what happens when or if €700 is reached? Is this the most I can get for this item, even if somebody is willing to pay €1,000 or more?

Do I have any other options, apart from just ending the listing and trying to sell it somewhere else instead? (Please note the likes of DoneDeal is not really an option as there's international interest in this thing and so I wouldn't expect those potential buyers to be browsing DoneDeal or Adverts.ie or similar)

All help and advice much appreciated.

Do eBay not have a support email or helpdesk?

They do. And I mailed them more than 24 hours before I posted here. But when I had no reply from them, thought it might be a good idea to post a message here to see if somebody else might be able to answer.

And it's not something that's easy to find out by googling either. All Google results about selling limits are mainly to do with how to be able to list more than ten items a month, not what happens when you just have one single, high-value, item that's likely to attract bids above that limit.

I note that you're an administrator and so I apologise if my query is out of line, but I thought one of the whole ideas of Boards was to be able to seek advice and/or information from others if it couldn't be found easily elsewhere.

When you get paid you might have to wait until the buyer leaves positive feedback before you can withdraw the funds.

The amount doesn't matter, could be €50 or €50,000

I'm not posting as an Admin. I assumed this was a question eBay could answer promptly and you never said you'd contacted them. I am amazed they can't answer a query like yours in a reasonable time. Not good.

And yes, this is the place to get a question answered. :)

    Hi there

Finally got an answer from eBay yesterday, and it's along the lines of what RasTa posted above. I'm surprised too that it took so long.

    Thanks :)
