Are they replacing the entire engine or switching out the blades? I thought there was an identified corrosion issue which was exacerbated by ANA's utilisation - shorter flights hence more t/os and landings and concentrated on domestic Japan hence more salty air.

The CNNartie sounds much more serious. RR has already take a Large charge to account for this.

Sounds like replacing blades in the interim but ultimately replacing all the engines.

this is not new; RR had this with the early RB 211s and nearly went bust.
