Back to education allowance and student grant scheme?

    Im a bit confused by this grant.

    here's whats written on the back to education allowance form:'It is not possible to receive the back to education allowance and a student grant maintenance element at the same time however you may be eligible for the student services charge and/or tuition fees under the student grant scheme'

    I was charged 250e for 'student fees' when I payed for my course, does this mean Ill be able to get back that 250e if I sign up on susi.ie even if Im going to be receiving the Back to education allowance?

    Depends on the course, i dont think SUSI covers PLC course fee's for example.

    When you apply to SUSI there are two different types of grant you can receive from them, the maintenance grant and the student/tuition fees grant. You can get the BTEA (Back to Education Allowance) and get SUSI to pay your tuition/student fees, but you cannot get BTEA and the maintenance grant from SUSI. But you can get both your tuition fees and your maintenance grant from SUSI provided you are not getting BTEA.
