    Hi folks,

Anyone know if a supplier / manufacturer is available in Ireland for timber agricultural buildings like the "Farmplus" timber buildings available in the UK.

Google is failing me and I can't seem to find anything but garden / hobby sheds in Ireland. I'm looking to erect a 10m x 14m clearspan timber framed shed.

Any suggestions / contacts much appreciated.

We've just built something very similar to the farm-plus kennel buildings, which are beautiful, and I don't think there is a kit form in Ireland.

Try Magtruss in Louth. They do all sorts of timber trusses and frames, you'll probably end up getting sheeting off someone else but they make a serious kit. Farm buildings wouldn't be their norm but they can make nearly anything. Now why in the name of God would you want to build a timber framed farm building? Between tractors, machinery and livestock hitting off it and the inevitable bottoms rotting it's not really a practical option.

Awesome, sounds like you built / designed / engineered this yourselves?

Thanks Who2 I'll give them a call. I understand the skepticism but with properly treated timbers and engineered buildings I don't think it's a large concern, at least for our operation. I've spent a fair bit of time in the UK and such agricultural buildings are relatively common in my experience.

Will try and post some photos if out on the site in the next few days.

If you look at the housing kit market itself and have plans for your shed, I m sure any timber frame housing outfit would be willing to quote you.
Also have you considered steel, if you look at some of the kits available for them they are quite cheap and you can finish off with timber surround/cladding if that's the finished look you are seeking.

Look on donedeal, loads of kits advertised on there and loads of suppliers advertise on it as well.
This is up now, but if you search it you can find prices relating to your sizes.

Ok sorry, I was thinking of a steel construction with timber surround finishing it.
Try these guys and maybe they'd give you an idea of pricing.
Building a complete timber shed of the size you mentioned wont be cheap!

You're probably looking at least 1.5x the cost of a steel framed shed, possibly more in Ireland.

Google "simple pole barn". Loads of photos, plans and advice on them. I'm looking at building one for a couple of small tractors.

Thanks for the tip. Knowing the right phrase to search for is very helpful. I thought designing / constructing this ourselves might be beyond our skills, but maybe not....
