Suddenly slicing the ball??

I've been playing par 3 courses quite a lot over the summer and heading the driving range on off days too. Was really hitting the ball nicely then all of a sudden I went for a game yesterday and start wickedly slicing the ball. It was bizarre and I have no idea why it was happening. The first nine holes were a write off really. Improved the second 9.

    How can this happen?

What did you eat for your breakfast before hand?
    Anything different to usual?

What side of the bed did you get out of?

Haha. I felt really positive beforehand. Practise swings felt good. I did my usual routine beforehand but the ball wasn't going where it should be going. Sharp slice to the right. When I did get my round back on track later I was nearly over compensating the fact i was going slicing right and start hitting balls slightly left, maybe 5 yards left of the target. It's a strange auld game.

Was it a slice or a push, or maybe a push slice?

The line the ball the ball takes off on is a product of the club path through the ball, going left is an out to in swing, going right is an in to out swing.

If the ball moves in the air is a product of the clubface at impact, left to right a slice, clubface was open, right to left clubface was closed at impact.

Don't start compensating and setting up left of target. Before you know it you'll have a fade in your play and I can tell from experience, once its ingrained it's hard to break that habit.

When I say a wicked slice it was like a golf shot of person who's hitting the ball for the first time ever. The ball hardly even went airborne, maybe 7 feet high and wickedly right. I think I was swinging to in to out. I start making my back swing more vertical on the backswing and I started to improve. Not to worry I'll have to hit the driving range to sort it out. Thanks.

The OP writes 3 sentences and asks on a forum to diagnose a swing flaw. People actively trying to help should cop on; it's just as bad as giving unqualified medical or legal advice IMO :)

To be honest I think Keano was acting a bit rash again and really should be embarrassed at his Mod contributions at times. The OP seen the funny side and obliviously knows the score.
