Dilemma

    Hi guys

Havent been on here in ages but i do have a small dilemma about purchase of my next car.
In fairness, all cars that have been offered on donedeal, carzone, autotrader and local dealerships have some offers on cars but not the ideal car...

Currently coming from Mazda 6 2004 1.8 petrol I would like to get hands on something newer, say 2008 up but with less millage that mentioned places have been offered with their cars.

    What I had in mind:

    Year - 2008 onwards
    Price - up to 7000e
    Petrol

I understand that people here will have different opinion and final conclusion will be mine but would be good to hear your ideas.

    2008+, €7,000, petrol ...........

You'd want to narrow your search margins a bit more.

Do you want a 2 seater sports, larger engine, people carrier, small hatch, large saloon, smaller engine, large hatch, small estate, stylish to stand out, bland to blend in, full of techno gadgets, basic and simple, rwd, fwd, 4x4,??? ........ the list could be endless depending on your tastes.

Lets say size of mazda 6, preferable hatchback, engine not bigger than 2L...

what i had in mind was:

    opel insignia
    skoda octavia
    mazda 6 (08-09) model
    opel astra (09 model)
    honda accord

the thing is that i dont want to spend money on something that i will have to repair all the time (fiat)

Octavia would be the winner in that list. Accord would be second.

Mazda 6, Astra & Insignia would all be lesser vehicles. Insignia is a troubled yoke all together, best to avoid.

What are common problems with insignia... I was looking at 1.8 petrol...

I've driven insignias since they came out, and vectra or astra before that. I can honestly say I never had a single mechanical fault in the past 20+ years.

    Honda Civic saloon:

Similar in size to the 03 - 08 Accord, 1.8 litre engine is ultra reliable and will easily return 40mpg+.

Ive had astra from 01 and there were only 2 faults that they are known of:

1 break lines get rusty (70e to replace them)
2 ecu (320e to get reprogramed)

Might to to dealers to try out insignia. Problem is that there isnt many of them in Limerick

Hatchbacks are good too, same engine.

This one is out of my budget...

Have 2 friends who own hatchback and they said that they never had any problems with it...
