Irish person renting out house but working abroad

    If an Irish person is working overseas and has a house here, what sort of tax rate do you pay on the rental income here if it’s rented out.
    As it stands, you pay near 50% on rental if you earn over 32,000 here, how would it work if you earned in excess of that overseas?

    That's not the case if the OP is a non resident for tax purposes in Ireland. A non resident pays a flat rate of 20% on rental income :

    Thanks guys, just to clarify. Working for non Irish employer in Europe, for a couple of years. Taxed on income overseas in that EU state. Hope this helps?

    I'm pretty sure that I've read that the renter is supposed to deduct 20% from the rental amount and pay it directly to revenue. . .may be completely wrong

    That's only if they pay the foreign landlord directly. If they use an agent, no problem.
