    Hi all

I work full time for a company where I work a standard 40 hrs working week.

Occasionally i might do very small freelance projects at weekends.
Generally we're talking about a few hundred euro per project.

There might be only 4-5 of these freelance projects every year so the total income on this freelance work is never any more than around €2000 per annum.

When charging clients - what should I do in regards to VAT or tax?
Should it be charged - or does it apply in this case ?

    Thanks

You will not be liable to charge VAT if you do not supply less than 37.5k of goods or services per year.

You are liable for income tax at your marginal rate. Contact your local revenue office, it will be easier than reading online it can be hard to understand if you don't know about it.

It will cut your income in half which may make you think twice about taking on the extra work. Just shows Ireland doesn't promote entrepreneurs and earning extra money. It does promote tax Dodgers in their masses though!
