I was trying to find something like this or if there is any campaign tackling the car insurance problem, I have signed and shared this with friends.

The site says they have 5,000 signatures since two weeks ago. Wonder will it have any impact?

Any reform for insurance as of now will need mass government action which isn't going to happen. While i'd love for ireland to have the lithuanian system of insurance being in the fuel cost or ireland just directly copying the uk,looks like we're stuck with what we have and i'm stuck with a big hunk of ****e in my driveway that i can't use

Things are starting to level off a bit now, some classes of drivers and car types will still see higher than average increases but its always being like that. I believe we are at the very top of the hard market now and when that happens premiums will only come down. Not to the levels that were available 3 or 4 years ago because as we have seen they are simply not sustainable but for the average driver that was badly hit this year I don't anticipate any major shift next year.

An interesting development occurred in the last week to 10 days where Chill announced a deal to be the agent for one of the large Middle Eastern insurers.

I've no idea what kind of time line there is for roll out but I'd suspect at least 6 months before they are selling but its good for the market.

Insurance is a business that needs competition, not reckless competition like 123 or Setanta but pricing structures that cover the costs of insurers while returning a profit of 5% to 8% would be perfect.

Companies are making money and consumers are not getting hit with whopper increases in their premiums.

If we can get to a place where the average driver (what i personally would define as an average driver is someone with 5 years bonus, over 30 and a car less than 2l and under €30k in value) is paying around the €500 mark per annum then I think that's a viable and sustainable model.
