They play mostly easy-listening songs on"Sunshine" radio but now not easy to listen to at all. This is mainly down to the constant, never-ending ear-bashing in the form of the Keith Duffy ad. where he is flogging his tyres. He actually sounds like he's doing an impression of Mario Rosenstock doing an impression of Keith himself!
He must be a part-owner or something of the station because if he is paying normal advertising rates, he would want to be selling an awful lot of tyres, Id imagine.
And while I would class myself as a big fan of Ken Doherty in general (especially his sports programme on Saturday mornings) he also pushes the boat out a bit with his ads for van insurance and TV's.
I know ads are a necessary evil but there's a limit...

I agree those tyres adverts are driving me mad. I turned the office radio over to Nova, which is what I would usually listen to anyway and it's far better.

    Yep.
Keith Duffy set the wheels rolling on his new partnership with Irish owned tyre manufacturer Tyreland.

Having spent over 25 years working in the entertainment industry Keith appears to have parked his fledgling acting career, which saw him pulling pints as Ciaran in Coronation Street, to concentrate on the new venture.

    [...]

Commenting on the new partnership he praised Tyreland’s wheelie good deals saying:‘Tyreland offer great value for money – we take low margins and sell high volumes of tyres – often we can save motorists up to 20% on their new tyres.‘

    [...]

Getting into the mechanics of why he chose to team up with the tyre manufacturing he said: ‘I love the Tyreland concept.’

‘You only have to listen to customer feedback to know that it works – people want value for money and a great service – and if they get it they tell others.’

So the odd ad makes a station unlistenable? 😠
We all have ads that we love to hate but bills need to be paid. It's part of business.

Move on and get over it. Such is life. And there is also a thread already on here for 'worst ads'.

Whoa! I must have touched a raw nerve somewhere. You wouldn't be associated with the station in some way, would you?
Anyway, on reading your comment, three things immediately come to mind. First, your use of hyperbole...where in my post do I mention "the odd ad" making the station unlistenable?
And yes, I am aware of the thread about worst ads, having posted on there a few times in the past. The thing is, I don't regard Keith Duffy's ad as being the worst I ever heard. If you hear The Best Ad In The Whole World often enough you'd get tired of it sooner or later. I repeat, it's the repetition!
Finally, thanks for your economics lecture on how bills have to be paid but I already alluded to that in the last sentence of my post.
Perhaps you should take your own advice and "move on, get over it".

I rest my case. And no I don't have any connection with the station. Frequency of ads is not so much a bad thing. Again may I revert you to the thread that is already here re worst ads.
    Good day to you.

Eh, I'm not quite sure what you are getting at there but maybe we'll both rest our cases...
