Suction towel rails etc - any use?

    I bought a suction toothbrush holder thing in Heatons and couldn't get it affixed to the wall.

    I'm looking at the towel rail suction one in Homestore and More but don't want to waste my money if it doesn't work.

    I got some as I didn't want to drill into my nice new tiles but they kept falling off. Plumber suggested using silicone to stick them on and they're still up there a year later.
