Took a look around, didn't see any other thread on it..

Has anybody watched "Spotless"? I just finished it last night, really enjoyed it. Have read that a second season has been approved and is in the works, but no release date as of yet. Looking forward to it :)

Brendan Coyle (whom I fondly remember as Jeremy FitzGerald from the RTE mockumentary "Paths to Freedom" but others would know best from Downton Abbey) and Denis Ménochet (had a scene in Inglourious Basterds early in the film, he was harbouring Jews under the floorboards in his house) are really good in it.

No, no, it is English language. Apologies if the trailer I posted up was in French! I am at work and haven't got my headphones with me :o

I believe it was produced by a French company, and two of the main characters are French men, but living in London. There are some flashback scenes which are in French but subtitled, but these are short and only a few words.

Started watching it last night, on episode 4 and going good. Kind of reminds me of Breaking Bad but on a much much smaller scale.

I definitely see the Breaking Bad comparison, right down to the boiler suits worn, but different enough for me to not be too derivative. However it's probably not a stretch to say that if Breaking Bad hadn't been such a hit, this show may not have happened. It has that same dark humour along with violent behaviour. I also see shades of Dexter in it.

    Edit:
I see that the writers responsible for it were also involved (individually) with writing CSI & Shameless

Agreed on Brendan Coyle & Denis Ménochet. They are both very good in this - Coyle makes a very good gangster. Thought the actor in the lead role (Marc-André Grondin) was a bit weak though.

Can definitely see the similarities to Dexter in some of dark humour, and of course plenty of crime scenes with blood on the walls.

It had an interesting start, but I felt it lost its way a bit and became too predictable as it went on.

I see where you both are coming from, at the start with
the dead girl in the freezer, and where the daughter stole the heroin
set things up for more potential than eventually played out, but I still am looking forward to the second season, hopefully they tighten up some of it, still has potential.

Love the theme song too! "The Only One" by Timber Timbre (who incidentally had a song featured in a Breaking Bad episode too, and to be fair the title track of Spotless would comfortably fit some scenes of BB)

Yes, I do like the theme song - and the opening credits are well done too. There's definitely potential in the series...maybe shift focus onto one of the other supporting actors from season 1 a bit more. Dont want to say too much more in case I spoil anything for those who havent finished it.

The bar is set so high these days for TV shows. In the last few months alone I've watched Gomorrah, Deutschland 83, Stranger Things, Tunnel season 2, all of which I really enjoyed.
