    I posted this in weather but it's also Astronomy & you can share the amusement. The following email just arrived:

    Got that alert too! I double-checked their initial mail against spaceweather.com but saw they had mentioned the Sun was quiet. Aurorawatch UK were very useful for tip-offs about the major auroral storms in October and November 2003.
