Looking for opinions (not recommendations) on osteopathy. I know that many people discount chiropractors but is there a similar view shared of osteopathy?

Has their been any studies into its effectiveness?

How regulated is it in Ireland? (I know in some countries you have to have a phd)

While most osteopaths are actually good, unlike their chiropracter charlatan relations, there are some who are a little shady. Here's a good rundown of the situation.

That link is describing doctors in the US with 'DO' degrees, which are recognised medical degrees for residency over there. No such degree is necessary for osteopaths in Ireland, who are self-regulated by the OCI.
