Rainwater Sediment Filter

    I'm looking for a rainwater sediment filter to install before water enters an underground concrete tank.
    The filter will need to be recessed into the ground but most off the shelf products I've seen have an inlet at the top and the outlet at the bottom - there can be a difference of 400mm between the two. This means a loss of 400mm of tank capacity as the top of the tank and the top of the filter will the same height.

    Anyone know of a filter product that has the inlet and outlet at the same level?
    I could DIY it by building a concrete box and installing some mesh myself but would prefer a custom built product.
    Have seen an ideal one on a UK site but nothing this side of the pond.

    For anyone interested; I found a product that suits but at approx 350 euros is not cheap. DIY job it is I think.
    Can't justify this sort of spend on essentially a box with mesh in it.

    What products and links have you found, Id be interested in a pm if required by boards rules or just hearing opinions here if not required.
    Im not near starting to do this as a project, but it is something Im interested in and Id like to see what products you came across or any pros and cons you came across.
    From a space perspective a buried tank sounds like a good idea for me, is it brought in in precast parts, assembled and lined, whats a useful volume? what do/can you use it for? ie do you filter it for potable water?

    You'll have to get separate professional advice re. water treatment but from my end;
    I built a large concrete rainwater tank as a consequence of having to build a fair amount of reinforced concrete retaining wall. It made sense to a few more walls and hey presto, a tank.

    I'm collecting all rainwater from house and garage, ducting to tank and through a sediment filter (hence my original post).
    From there, it gets pumped to my garage where it will be treated (still discussing treatment options with installer) and then into house.

    The company I came across when looking for a specific type of filter to install before water enters the tank was Rewatec based in the UK. I've no affiliation to this company. Also came across Sturdy (based in Ireland) and Graf. Lots of others out there I'm sure.
    In my particular case, the top of my concrete tank is at ground level, with the pipes coming from house just below this. In order to ensure I don't lose too much of the tanks capacity I need to keep the inflow into the tank near the top but most off the shelf products have an inlet at the top and the exit (water into the tank) below i.e. a loss of height and thus capacity.

    As regards types of buried tanks, there are many different types, materials and shapes from what I've seen. I've no experience to share however as it was always a concrete tank for me.
