Universal remote recommendation?

    Hi. Basic question, probably.

I want a single remote to operate an Ariva 153 and my Samsung TV. Is it just a matter of picking up any old OneForAll model or is there one out there that leads the field in terms of idiot-proofery?

Logitech harmony remotes are up there with the best but are expensive.
I have the harmony touch and am very happy with it , using it to control a number of devices.
Very easily setup, all done with the aid of their software.
Probably a bit overkill if you only require it to control 2 devices but if your interested in them, have a look on amazon.

I've a oneforall URC7960......having it working a Sky box, Virgin box, dvd, MXq box ......oh and the tv

keep and eye out for the remotes they sell in Lidl from time to time, might not look as flashy as the brand names but work very well....can't go wrong for under a tenner

Lidl ones on sale today, good quality build probably the best they've had on sale yet........for 7.99 can you go wrong, have it working tv, Sky, Virgin, dvd and android MXq box.......same as the much more expensive one4all

I have been using one of those Lidl remotes for years, 5-7, never a bother, tv, stb, dvd, worth 7.99

One For All are generally good, I use an Essense2 to control my Humax HDR and TV as a 2nd remote. Works very well, and I think it's well laid out.

That said, those ones in Lidl aren't too bad either, and have great options for the price.

I would second the Logitech harmony remotes. I have the Harmony One and it's brilliant. Can be complex to set up properly but once working it's fantastic.

Might as well post it here but I found a way round my long standing problem of Virgin pace boxes and universal remotes.....they'll only change 1 channel up and down and that's it .....what I did is add 2nd buttons with the learn function.....arrow keys now also change channels, so I now alternate between the 2 and have a functional way of going up/down....not ideal but works a treat
