Which do you think is the better bet in the Crystal Palace v Burnley game?

Crystal Palace to win or Under 2.5 Goals?

Not football related, but I only use this thread and figured you lot know more about this than me. I placed 2 large bets on the NFL Draft last night for Myles Garrett to be the first overall pick at 1/3 and 1/4 on BetVictor and Ladbrokes respectively. I bet the maximum stake available on each one which is why I used 2 sites. News was getting out that the Browns had informed him they'd be selecting him and a lot of well-regarded reporters both regionally and internationally were reporting it. Prices jumped up to 1/10 and higher in the minutes after I placed the bets and a few minutes later betting was suspended.

Garrett was picked and my bets paid out, but I've now been told by each that I'll no longer be able to use their sportsbooks

Ladbrokes, I'm a long time customer. BetVictor, I specifically signed up for that bet last night. How typical is this? And I guess they can do whatever the hell they want?

I think the bookies might have taken a bit of a hiding on the 0-0, I'm in a betting group chat and know someone who made over €1000 across under 2.5, under 0.5, BTTS no, 0-0 scorecast, no FGS, a red card to be shown, and BTTS no in 1st half/2nd half.

This guy always lumps on stupid stuff though, he'll lose it again at the weekend :pac:

Palace win definitely, could easily see a 3-0, 3-1...

    Yes they can do this.
No you can't do anything about it.
    There are other bookies.
    Congrats on the win.

Do you think 3-0 or 3-1 happens a large enough percentage of the time to make under 2.5 goals a bad bet @ 1.8?

I priced Crystal Palace up at 52% to win this game. If you had to put a percentage on a home win what you go for?

Well looking at Burnley's away premiership results in 2017, bar low-score draws against other relegation contenders, they've all been over 2.5 defeats. Palace are comfortably a top-half team on current form IMO.

Not confident setting specific odds, but I'd put chances of a Burnley win at 60% at least.

    Edit: Spot the deliberate mistake

    Burley away goals conceded

    0 - 3 times
    1 - 2 times
    2 - 6 times
    3 - 5 times
    4+ - 1 times

    Palace home goals scored

    0 - 5 times
    1 - 6 times
    2 - 2 times
    3 - 2 times
    4+ - 1 times

Burnley goals conceded may stretch to 3 but Palace recent form is confusing people, they are not the prolific scorers recent memory may make you believe.

Was wondering the same, are they likely to rest a few with champs league next week?

I like to think the bigwigs at Bet Victor saw me register, place a very large bet that won, and panicked thinking I was a shark of some sort.

Little do they know I've put most of Ladbrokes and Bet365 employees children through college :o

I'll be backing benteke myself at around 6/5
purely on recent form I'm thinking of having a decent bet on palace at 4/5 also.
Burnley have been a pretty good money spinner at home but against utd last weekend they were awful, hadn't a single shot on target
I thought palace might have been closer to 4/6/8/13 even if this is an important game for burnley

dying to oppose lyon tonite thinking they'll be resting players but not sure what to do, angers at 3/1 or dc at 5/6, surely there's a bit of value in the dc when they are at home, I'd expect that price to drop

lyon in poor form in the league also recently failing to beat bottom side bastia along with mets and losing at home to lorient (15th/16th placed, all odds on defeats 1.3 1.9 1.4)
    angers in 14th

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭JaMarcusHustle

Angers played on Tuesday in a competitive cup game whereas Lyon haven't played since Sunday - I'd just watch out for that. You've also got the fact that Angers might be content that they're pretty safe in Ligue 1 now and are looking ahead to their cup final.

2 teams looking ahead to bigger games with not much to play for in the league. That's a no-no to me! :o

I'd agree with you there but the final is four weeks away
we'll know more when teams are out at least
heading into that point of the season with quite a few teams wondering who's in holiday mode and who isn't

Going to keep an eye on Jong Ajax' line up.
They are away to VVV who won the league last week and i suppose they have been celebrating that a bit.
No Eredivisie this weekend so no need to keep players out of tonight's line up.

Last time i checked Jong Ajax was @ 4.5 for the win

Got Jong Ajax earlier DC@6/5 into 3/4 now

    Jong Ajax:

Boer, Tete, Zeefuik, Eiting, Riedewald; Van de Beek, Nouri, De Jong; Neres, Cassierra, Cerny

That should be enough to win that one

Ajax paid more for that team than Feyenoord did for theirs that is top of the Eredivisie

Had a little doubt after the Ajax red card but guess the win for them is safe now.

Everything that could've gone wrong today, did go wrong. The only saving graces were a couple of Punchestown winners I lucked into.
