Hi I've 2 red brick chimney breast that are leaking. I've changed slates and the lead, re pointed the bricks, poured new concrete caps and put on a water proof sealer but there still leaking. The rain is coming in the attic and down. Any help or advice much appreciate.

A few good quality photos of the area would help diagnose.

I'd be interested in looking at the leadwork/slate interface. Is the lead simply laid over the slate in a single, continuous run down the roof. Or is it interleaved with each slate - with perhaps a continuous run of lead over the interleaving lead to finish. If simply laid on the slate (with folk sometimes attempting to stick the lead to the slate with silicone) then the wind will drive the rain under the lead and over the edge of the slate and into your attic.

I don't suppose the need for waterproofer. Rain running in means a gap somewhere.

The lead is going up under the slates a nice bit, with the lead coming out from the bricks going down over the lead. I'll take a picture later

It's been particularly wet of late....but that's of no solace to you...

Is there a cowl on the chimney?

Thankfully it only leaks if the rain is hitting the chimney at the roof side not the gable side. Ya I've a anti rain and bird cowl on it. After the slates and lead were changed and it still leaked, I wrapped the chimney in plastic and it stopped the leak so I put on the waterproof sealer and put new concrete on top thinking that would solve it but it's still leaking.
