Anyone been to Benelmadena on the Costa Del Sol? What's it like? We usually head for Lanzarote but thought we'd try somewhere the same but different. No high expectations, just a cheap easy sunshine break near Christmas.

    Strip between Torremolinos and Fuengirola.

Try and stay in the Sunset Beach if you can, it's well run, good facilities and it's Irish owned.

Plenty of restaurants all the way up from the Marina in the centre to the Sunset Beach.

Pretty nice place, more relaxed and less "hectic" than the two other places I've mentioned.

Thanks for the info. I was just checking temperatures for December, it doesn't seem that warm.........any experience of Winter weather there?

Sunset beach is top class, but not cheap.
I have stayed there in october, but not any months later than that.
Its no where near as warm as Lanzerote after the end of september.
The flights tend to be cheaper to malaga, and Taxi from airport is about 28 euro.
But I dont think you can really depend on the sunshine tbh.

    Exactly.
For guaranteed winter sun you need to be in the Canaries.
We were told that by October you might be in a tee shirt or an overcoat.Later than that and it can get colder I believe.

Ah.....I wondered why the package price was so much cheaper than Lanzarote! The sunshine is the main reason for going, so it might be back to the drawing board. 😖 Thanks for your input btw.

Went for a week in November a few years ago. Chucked down for three days. Wasn't cold, but it was pretty miserable.

It's a nice resort - I stayed there in February and the weather was OK, no need for sunscreen or anything but nice blue skies 15/18 degrees. Another recommendation for the Sunset Beach from me too.

We stayed there over Christmas a couple of years ago and were very lucky with the weather. As above no need for suncream but warm enough to lie outside for a couple hours. The Sunset beach was a fantastic base and was rocking all over Christmas, highly recommended. We rented a car and toured most evenings when the sun went down, Malaga is close by and the Christmas lights there are spectacular.

Heading to Sunset Beach the end of September for a week. First holiday with 2 kids so it should be interesting! Any restaurant recommendations nearby? Child friendly a must! Should we book transfer or get a tax from airport?
