Hi all, first time poster here...

I'm working nearly full time on different farms and I want to get the green cert started, but part time...
    My issues are as follows
    # I've had a herd number since I was 18 and will that hamper me when I complete the green cert?
    # can I qualify for the part time course as I haven't a level six or seven course completed?
    # will I get in (ballyhaise) this year...
#I work a few days here and there on a pig farm and a person told they can send me forward for the course is this true?
    All help welcomed thanks

    don't see why it should.

only mature students 25+? maybe 23+ not sure, ask teagasc, can qualify for the part time course without a degree or comparable post second level qualification.

full time education courses are usually very hard to get places in, have to be booked years in advance. part time night courses usually have no problem.

only if the pig farmer has completed a master farmer training course. they have to have safety statements, other stuff, a lot of hassle so most refuse to do so unless they have all the paperwork done already for another reason.

i did the night courses myself but flunked out. in my class there was a 70% dropout rate. if you have a herd number and you won't be inheriting land under 35 years of age then don't bother as you won't need the stamp duty exemption. there is 9500euro payment for those who complete it but for the time you would put into earning it you could earn 4 times that in a minimum wage job. the course seems easy at first but becomes really hard, i'd rather do a degree in computer science than do that.
