    Hi Peops,

So getting a bit upset with the postal system used by Thomann.
I ordered last Wednesday a considerable order that totals in 7 large parcels.
Now it arrived at the Port Laoise mail center yesterday at noon.
So i expected that it would be delivered today, however nothing came and i was a bit disappointed to say the least.
So i called to An Post and asked if this was normal?
Her reply and i quote ''

Parcels from Germany can take up to 5 working days to be delivered at your door

    ''

So i told the lady ok, but how is it possible that when i send somebody a parcel from Donegal to Cork by using regular An Post service it's there the next working day ?
She was unable to reply to it and said i don't know......

Is it me or does it look like they are blocking the parcels or something ??
Because normally once it's tracked into the AN Post System i always get it the next working day.

But with Thomann it seems to take longer?
And this while my parcels have been with them since yesterday and the tracking status has not changed yet?

    Any experience on this ?
Can i expect it tomorrow ?

    Thanks Lads and Ladies!

The sender may have a used an economy service, so express shipments may have taken priority over it.

Most courier and mail centres experience large volumes over a weekend, so economy shipments wouldn't take priority on a Monday, which is usually the busiest day for deliveries.

Yes, I've had a couple of shipments with FedEx that took a day longer in Dublin, and an extra day at the Cork depot. They don't want to deliver the economy service too quickly.

It depends which service the sender has chosen if it's delivered with AnPost than it's not DHL Express but DHL as in German Post and they offer different services to Ireland which has different deliver times.

If they send it as standard DHL Paket than it can take in total up to 8 days to reach you, if they send it as DHL Paket Premium than it can take up to 6 days.

Once it reaches Port Laoise and is not held up by customs (yes I hear you saying EU should not be customs but it is because of all the illegal imports) than if it's Premium it should be there next day as it's going via AnPost Courier service (aka Express), otherwise it's going as Standard. And while in some regions Express and Standard might be delivered by the same van, that is not always they case.

And while Standard should be there next day, sometimes it does not happen.

However the 5 days that person quoted you is wrong, that sounds like a lame excuse and made up.
