Jobseekers alowance and jobpath

    Hi just wondering im currently on jobseekers alowance and i got a letter to go to jobpath i attend the meeting and i have to go now twice a week the problen is i have 2 kids and 6 month old baby and i have no childminder to mind them,i was thinking of sighning off ja, now my husband is on causual work and gets 138.00 swp would he be entitled to more if i stop claiming any advise would be great.

    Do you also get €138? If your payment is split 50/50 between you which it should be then he would receive what is now your payment on top of his own if you sign off JA. Another option for both of you is for him to apply for family income supplement as he may be better off on that. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/275_Family-Income-Supplement.aspx

    Thanks for you reply yeah our payment is split do u know if i just give up my ja will my husband automactically get it or doewsnt he have to put in a different claim i dont understand the system at all...

    You can just close your claim and he will get the full payment then.

    Make sure if you decide to close your claim that if you are entitled to a credits claim for yourself to open one and also get hubby to apply for FIS. DSP will let him know which payment is more beneficial to him.
