Audit versus Corporate Finance

I know Corporate Finance is an extremely competitive department to get into for a graduate program however I feel this is the route I would love to go down. I am currently in KPMG Cork on placement where I've gotten experience in audit however I do not feel this is the route I want to follow.

If anyone has any insight as to what it is like to work in Corporate Finance/Transaction services or any other strand of advisory it would be greatly appreciated.

I love the Finance modules in college but I know that practice can be a lot different to what you study in college so I'm afraid that I am misinterpreting what I will be doing.

I have strong academic results and am big into sport with an interest in the field however I have no experience in it.

Milkrounds will be coming up soon so if anybody has any advice on what the Big 4 will be looking for in a Corporate Finance candidate it would be much appreciated also, especially KPMG as I love the firm itself, or if you have any advice on knowledge I should bring into the interview and highlight in the interview that would be great too, thank you.
