    Hi Folks

Just a general few queries for posters who might have sat or will be sitting the AITI Exams.

A bit on my background. I am a qualified ACCA Accountant since 2013 and working full time in practice for the past 9 years. The thoughts of sitting the tax exams (AITI) have been crossing my mind lately and I think I might register this month. Tax is an area that interests me and I do think its an area I could excel at.

My question rely is how much time will these exams take up in terms of study? I have a young family and I understand that there will be a huge commitment on my part to study/sitting exams but the end result i.e. hopefully qualifying and earning a higher salary down the line will be worth it.

Any input from posters would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Will be sitting the finals next week, only took on to do these last year. Found them very informative and if in practice can provide a different dimension to business advice. I'm also in practice, and acca.
Study time is considerable, though if you have a good understanding, and depending on your historic exposure to tax in the practice you can get through.
Myself I have done 3-6 hours every day, sometimes more, for the last 6 weeks, not including the college days.
Others in the class have families, and they seem to manage, or at least make the time.

Part two is lots of weekends, part three is more structured self study. And depending on the winter or summer course you out for.

I did the summer courses, first day, first lecturer "ha, fair play to you lads..summer course wha"..

Would strongly recommend doing these knowing what I know now. PM if I can help more..

I did the part 3's this year winter sitting and sitting one repeat next week as part of the summer sitting. I was staying back in work studying for two hours twice a week from last September and had 6 week study leave in May and was studying office hours during those six weeks. This is on top of the lectures and the extra time over xmas for the CA assignment and exam in January

    Thanks for the replies folks.

I reckon I will register for the winter course and hope I have enough free time to study etc over the course of the year.

    Any other replies welcome.

    Thanks

I passed them all fairly simply... studied in study leave, didnt go to any lectures nor do much from september up to the period in which I got study leave.

Exams werent that bad and unless I worked in tax I wouldnt recommend them - broadly out of date a few years later anyway. For example when I did the exams there was no R&D, no SARP, no HIE and so on...

Well done on passing them so easily!

How recent did you sit them?

I work in practice, relatively small with 8 staff. Obviously tax compliance and advice is part of my job but I wouldn't say its a major part of my day to day. Either way, I am registering to sit these next year and hope if I do pass, that I will have a few new opportunities open to me.

    Thanks
