Should taps be open or closed?

Had a gas service tech here earlier cos boiler wouldn't work properly (was giving low water pressure error code) and he re-pressurised the boiler by doing something with the rads and a pump thing.

Was just looking at the boiler there and think he may have forgotten to close the filling valves on the boiler as they look different to how I remember them usually looking. Just wondering if anyone here knows if the two black knobs are in the right position?

Boiler is an ariston microgenus 24 combi boiler. Cheers.

The valves have been left open, they should have been left in the closed position.
Turn each one a quarter turn to close.

    They are fine now.
Keep a watch on the pressure. It shouldn't need regular topping up, once or twice a year at most.
If it needs to be topped up more regularly there is an issue and it should be investigated.

Yeah, this is second time in 2 years it's happened. Mains pressure isn't great apparently. A pump to boost water pressure was suggested, getting a quote next week for one.
