Hi thinking of moving to Wexford (probably Enniscorthy/Wexford town area although New Ross is a possibility too) and looking at secondary schools for our kids (who are nearing the end of their primary school years) - any recommendations or even just what the various secondary schools are into/known for (e.g. GAA, Academic focus etc) and if the school is hard to get into ...
    Thanks, Hyphen

Hi Hyphen, I can only comment on Enniscorthy. There are 4 second level schools to choose from. The vocational school has had huge investment in recent years and is well equipped with various labs, plenty of technology, a wide range of subjects and resources for children needing extra support. The girls school in town is Colaiste Bride. An older building but nice learning environment and the students seem to get good results. The boys school is the CBS, conveniently located in the centre of town. Just outside town in Brownswood is Meanscoil Enniscorthy, co-ed and irish language. I am not sure about enrollments into CBS, but to my knowledge there is generally no problem enrolling in the other schools.

In the Wexford Area there's plenty of secondary schools, though you may be hard pressed getting a place in the schools.
    - St. Peter's is a highly academic all male school, very enthusiastic about Gaelic Games.
    - CBS Wexford is quite academic, reputable school. All male school. Quite into rugby and most other sports, a good selection of hobbies and such available too.
    - Presentation Wexford is an all girls school, quite academic, plenty of sports and other activities available.
    - Loreto Wexford is highly academic all girls school, always a high performing school in Leaving Cert results. It's currently having a completely new school being built on the edge of the town.
    - Selskar College is a mixed technical school. To my knowledge, it's just your average tech. Some good teachers there too. Wide range of subjects, but I can't comment on their extracurricular activities.
    - There is a bus up to Meanscoil Garman each morning from the Gaelscoil primary school, which is handy. Very small school so I don't think there's much sport there.

    Hope this helps.
