Herself is in the market for a new car and is looking for a small run-around type car for the short commute to work and other short to mid-length trips.

She has at most €15k to spend and an old (2003) Opel Agila to trade in - so probably won't get a huge amount there - but doesn't have any specific demands other than it being 5 door.

From what we've seen so far the VW Up (/Seat Mii / Skoda Citigo) is a contender - and the Toyota Aygo is also in the mix. Those aside are there any other cars that would be worth taking a closer look at?

Thanks for any and all pointers

    Are Hyundai still doing scrappage?

Might be still able to avail of 3500 scrappage allowance on an i20:

Seat Mii / Skoda Citigo Are way ahead of Aygo to drive, however there's loads of them out on hire and this hits resale hard. Personally I'd buy an ex hire one in sept/ October and get her to put the savings to a few luxury holidays for you :)

Only makes sense if the OP cannot a scrappage deal on the old Agila.

The i10 would be worth a look too as the agila is a tall narrow car too and that might appeal.

Had a look at the i10 and she quite liked it - ticked the box in terms of size (it's about the same as the Agila but maybe a little bit more spacious inside) and had some nice little extras for the price.

The fact that they'll give scrappage on the old heap has more than likely sealed the deal, too. Thanks for the help!

How much did you get the I10 for and how much scrappage deal reduction was?

It was around €15,700 for the model she went with (deluxe with a few other bits), so with scrappage of €3,500 the actual price was a little over €12,000.

I think the offer is only available until tomorrow (Monday), though, unless they extend it again.
