Moving house - New contract

Hi, I'm in the process of moving house and my provider Vodafone just told me that a new property would result in new contract with a new price. I specifically asked about moving 16 months ago when I started the contract as I rarely stay in one place very long. So I'm annoyed I wasn't aware of this from the beginning.

Seriously considering changing provider, but I'm wondering is this the norm or is it just Vodafone that starts a new contract with a new address? Really appreciate your experiences of moving house with different providers.

Same with Sky, however they said I would be staying on the same price.

It's only going up from 38 to 40 a month. Seems to be a general price increase that happened while we were on contract. It's what's advertised on their website.

I guess I just didn't like the woman assuming I would accept a longer contract at higher price when I was never told about this before.

if you decide to cancel, you probably pay cancellation fee. You might get lucky and there's no cable in the new place. Or Sky told me, that if the speeds are lower than in my previous place I can cancel without cancellation fee.

Vodafone are still the cheapest for broadband only.

The new contract means you dont pay €100 in install fees, its normal across all providers.

Thanks for all the info. I understand that Vodafone is cheaper and I didn't realise this was the norm in the industry. What still annoys me though is the fact I was never informed of this before today. I have checked emails and all the information they sent out, and logged into their self care website and no where does it mention anything about starting a new contract when you move house. I'm certain I asked about their moving policies last year and I was told, it'll be fine we'll just install in your new property. I can't even find anything resembling a contract which I know I wouldn't have thrown out.

I think the problem that the contract you entered to was specific at that address. There's nothing to stop them charging you cancellation fees and still have to enter a new contract as far as I know.

Only got a call last week about extending my contract and said that I might be moving in the future and they said no contract extension and my existing contract would remain.
