    Hi there,

I have an issue with mobilecover.
A while ago I have bought a phone from some guy on adverts. Genuine lad with genuine phone, came with a box and a receipt docket. I insured it with the guys from mobilecover (which were quick enough to take up my money). Unfortunately my phone was stolen few days ago, so I rang me insurance, provided them with all necessary documents. First they asked me to send them my blacklisting confirmation again, I did, then they asked me to provide then with proof of simcard exchange (found it pretty silly) but my network provider was more than happy to help me so. Now the problem is, the receipt docket it's not good as it says "delivery docket" on it. The page includes the customers name and address, also what the person paid for, the amount was paid for the vat and the type of contract the guy wentfl for, the date and how long the contract will last for.

Apparently that is not good enough and they need proof of purchase, even though the docket says that person paid this amount of money for that phone.

I contacted three and they were very nice to explain to me why they can't help me, obviously the phone is registered still with that guy, they can't give me any info as that man has a different account than mine. That I clearly understand, but I'm just wondering what I can do about it?

I obviously paid for the insurance for no reason as now simply they can't accept the docket as a proof.

Would be very appreciated any info that could help me anyhow.

    Thank you.

"the device must be purchased as new (not previously owned) from a public of ireland vat registered company (not online auctions or device exchange auctions) and the insured must produce a valid proof of purchase in the name of the insured in the event of a claim."

Thats taken from their policy document under in event of a claim, sub section The device.

Unfortunately i dont think you have a leg to stand on as it was purcased second hand technically as the original buyer bought it from their network first, not sure about paying insurance for so long when it wasnt valid, did you tell them when setting it up how and where you bought it from?

Couldn't tell anyone, I done the insurance online. Then got an automatic email saying, congratulations you're all sorted.

Unfortunately I see how sorted I am now :(.

Have you requested a refund of your premiums. It seems the item insured did not meet an important criteria, i.e. that it was new, purchased directly.

In this case it could be argued that there was no policy in place and a refund should be forthcoming.

Luckily I got in touch with the previous owner which was more than happy to provide a receipt. Proper proof or purchase. Now that has been sent to the insurance company and all I cans do now is wait another day. This particular the neurone company doesn't like ringing their customers or send more than 1 e-mail per day. If they still argue about it, I will ask for my money back, considering they've been like this I only expect other issues and arguments from their side anyway. Moral of the lesson, never take the phone to the pub anymore :))) , what's even worse, I wasnt even drinking. :))

They are still likely to reject it as it's not proof of sale to you.

well excuse my language but that is completely st**id. I do get it if i get an insurance for a device that doesnt exist, you need to prove it that you bought it and you actually had that device. but if i buy a phone from any other source that's not classified as "valid" by them, it's still the same item, you should be able to insure it. this is very fustrating , they shouldn't insure you in the first place, or that should be a question they ask. i just find it ridiculous , they just take my money so they can say in the end , oh well wait, that's not a valid insurance. thanks again for all the help guys.

Sorry to requote myself but like it says

    "

This is the policy agreement, before you sign up online you have the option to read this and in fact must agree to the terms and conditions of this before setting up your cover. In this day and age,the mentality of click yes just to get by the terms is whats hanging people out to dry.

Hopefully they give you a refund,if not then chalk it up to experience dude

On the basis that they were never on cover for the risk, they should refund the premiums paid.
