Foreign Birth Register - Application

    Hi,

I'm interested in registering on the foreign births register. I'm applying though my (now deceased) maternal grandfather.

I've seen the list of documents, and they seem extreme to say the least (Can't post link as a new user). And lots of them seem irrelevant. For example, do I need my mother's divorce certificate if it has no relation to being related to my grandfather (She kept her husband's family name after divorce)?

I've got a lot of the documents
My grandfather's birth, marriage and death certificates.
My mother's birth and marriage certificates and a certified copy of her passport.
My birth certificate, certified passport copy and three bills to prove my address.

Do you think I need anything else?
Also, It's going to be very difficult to get divorce papers as my mother says she doesn't remember in which court or the month she actually got divorced :/. Is it worth hunting for those papers?

I'd send in what you have, if they think you need more they'll let you know.

Hi, I'm just worried as they say they will return my application and I will lost the application fee (Around 300 Euros) if I don't send a complete application.

Does anyone know the current timescales involved with the register too? Online I've seen everything for two weeks to 12 months waiting for approval.
