    Hi,

I have a question about payslips.

My employer has a policy of emailing payslips to our work email account.

However they also have a policy that your not allowed to forward work email to your home email account.

How do I then retain a personal copy of my payslip and should I be entitled to?

If I print it out at work I risk not keeping it confidential.

Are they sent as attachements? Could you download them and keep them as "non-email" based data?

Print to PDF and then save to a USB stick?

Ignore the policy and send it*... jeebus what a stupid policy... fair enough for company docs but your own payslip....

*personal opinion, dont do it if you think you'll get in trouble.

i worked in a place where you couldn't forward emails to a personal external address, it didnt apply to personal data, contracts, payslips etc.

ask your boss to clarify that confidential emails do not refer to your own personal data.

Most places have policies that you cannot forward all your work emails to a non-company address.

But they do allow forwarding of specific messages once you have verified that there is no confidential company material in them. Check if this is what your policy actually means.

Quick check though: are the payslips sent as PDFs that are password protected? If not, then you may as well just write your salary on the back of a post-card and send it to yourself in the snail mail, because this is would be equally private.

    Hi Thanks for the info.

They are pdf's and have password protected with 4 digits....not great protection really but it's there.

Why don't you get the Finance Department to email your payslip directly to your personal email address?
