Are signing on bonuses common here in Ireland in the Software || Web Development industry, like it is in the states

For the first time ever I saw a job advert with a signing on bonus of 2.5K on a 35-40K salary. Is this common, or rare.

    Rare, AFAIK.

Pretty standard in a lot of software companies. Usually either a smaller cash bonus or large equity grant vesting over a period of a few years.

I usually see it in jobs where they can't find anybody as a incentive to apply.

depends we offer a signing bonus if we are head hunting.

or if its a really rare role, or if someone is making a huge leap to join us.

other than that no, we dont offer them.

its pretty rare still but is happening
