Can anyone answer this realtively silly question for me but im very curious

I have a heater that uses two 40 Watt Red Fireglow Bulbs Incandescent. I just bought 2 LED RED 1.5 watt replacement bulbs just to be more efficient.
    They work just as well

Are my calculations correct in saying that

    Power Use Before

    40Watt + 40 watt = 80 Watts

    Power Use After

    1.5 Watt +1 .5 Watt =3 Watts

So a Saving of 77 Watts Per hour!!! Could this be correct Or are my calculations too simple:eek:

I changed 11 downlighters for LED,

    11 x 50 = 550

    11 x = 55

run them all for about the cost of one of the old ones

Oh ok, so then my calculations are correct? Seemed like an extraordinary saving so i just assumed it wasnt as simple as i had calculated. Will have to change all the bulbs in the house bloody 40 watt and 60 watt bulbs everywhere

I have a heater that uses two 40 Watt

Now you have a non-heater that is now using 3 watts for no reason at all.

But without being cheeky, if its still a heater you are running, the LED bulbs will probably melt.

It's probably one of those fan heaters where the fake coal is illuminated by the bulbs.

If the stove does some dimming/flickering of the lamp then the LED ones may not work as expected

On our one there is a rotating shaft with mirrors attached that reflect the light in different directions. I changed mine to LEDs last year and they're still grand. More the convenience of not having to replace one of them every year.
