I have a standard irish fireplace 16" and im looking into removing the firebrick and fireplace and installing a stove.im not sure the size of lintel behind the fire until i expose the plaster.what im wondering is if i need to widen the opening as i want the stove to sit in and not out of the fire opening i will need to install a wider lintel but how difficult is this seeing as its a supporting wall.what type of cost would be involved in widining the opening with a larger lintel and possible removal of some blockwork.cheers
