Apart from Ireland's ludicrous 10pm gargle shop laws, I recently discovered its "illegal" to keep a goldfish in Switzerland, in solitary confinement.

    The fcuk?

    What other laws are stupid?

    Go for it.

I read somewhere that there was still a law in England until recently, whereby every man had to practice his bow and arrow for a certain amount of hours a day.

The penalty for suicide up until 1964 was hanging.

Surely that's the most stupid law there ever was!

Well, it's still a fúking stupid barbaric law. The sooner that shítstain on our constitution is removed, the better.

Get rid of that ridiculous blasphemy law too. All I said was that halibut was good enough for Jehovah.

If a pregnant woman needs to make a sh1te or piss in the street, she can do it in a Guards hat without fear or embarrassment.

    And the Guard must comply.

May not be true, but an auld lad in a pub swore to me it was.

If you think Ireland's 10pm alcohol laws are bad, checkout Sweden's. State owned off licences.

    Opening hours

Monday-Saturday, perhaps until 7pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturdays. In smaller towns, opening hours may be restricted to weekdays and/or office hours only. In remote areas and small villages, the local store often operates as an extension of Systembolaget, where orders can be placed in advance for collection on particular days of the week

Spontaneous booze ups in Sweden are a big no-no then!

Nothing wrong with a bit of drinking in public.
I will continue to defy this law.

Any law that prevents me from doing whatever the hell I want as long as it doesn't impinge on the rights of others.

I think small quantities of locally grown weed should be legal under certain circumstances. It would help illness and create jobs.

But; Actually read what Godwin himself has to say about it?

He, basically, reckons the internet is a cnut. It's twisted his own, original point to the point of FUBAR.

“In Norway, for instance, it is illegal for a barman to serve you a fresh drink until you have finished the previous one. Does that sound to you like a matter that needs to be covered by legislation? It is also illegal in Norway for a bakery to bake bread on a Saturday or Sunday. Well, thank God for that, say I. Think of the consequences if some ruthless Norwegian baker tried to foist fresh bread on people at the weekend. But the most preposterous law of all, a law so pointless as to scamper along the outer margins of the surreal, is the Swedish one that requires motorists to drive with their headlights on during the daytime, even on the sunniest summer afternoon. ”

    There we go.

How is it stupid to dump a social animal into a container of 4l of water when it needs closer to 30l?

Because you don't understand doesn't make it stupid.
