There was an Aertel channel you could add to a satellite reciever that gave you the old Aertel, it worked on our Ariva 250 anyway, is this gone now or does anyone know what the story is? Not working for us anyway, everything else is fine...

Afaik Aertel (the WST teletext service, not RTE Aertel Digital)is still being broadcast on Sky Digital, but your TV will only be able to receive it if your connection is via SCART, not HDMI. It is not a separate channel, it's carried on RTE One and Two.

It is one of the last WST services still being actively maintained in Ireland and the UK - the only others are I think horse racing related.

Yeah connection is via SCART, nothing has changed hardware or software wise on our end, just stopped working, Ill ask in the Ariva 250 thread.

When did it stop working? RTE changed frequency a while back, now on 12266 MHz, H pol., SR 27500.

Nah its not Aertel in the conventional Saorview sense, there is no Aertel on RTE 1 and 2 anymore on non-Saorview combi boxes, but there was a scrambled channel you could tune in and for some reason Aertel would work on that channel because of a contract RTE had with the cable companies I think, people were using it as a way to still get Teletext. Dont know how long its been gone but it was working perfectly a few weeks ago.

I know what you're talking about, it's carried on Sky's transponder (which I gave the tuning parameters for in previous post), had it on my own sat. receiver but can't check now if it's still working.

"Conventional" Aertel was never available on Saorview. There is an MHEG-5 based service which is called RTE Aertel Digital available on that platform, but it's not teletext, but an interactive service with the same information,

The original Aertel teletext service was - at least up until recently - still going on the Sky Digital and Virgin Media analogue platforms.

On satellite I can access the original Aertel on a FTA receiver by pressing text on RTÉ Two SD

Interesting, I just need to tune in RTE 2 sd? Don't suppose you know what frequency it's at? I don't know if I have HD or SD tuned in on the parents box, I'll check later.

Nevermind, it was one of those times you had to scan Eurobird even though it was Astra you were looking for, think thats just a specific glitch on Ariva boxes, all sorted now anyway, got Aertel back and a few others. Thanks.
