The priests that attend maynooth university..... Is the taxpayer paying for their education?? I would like to know..... Is the state also funding the education and training of spiritual leaders in other religions? For example does my tax money also fund the training of Islam imams?

I think the training of spiritual leaders is important and that they have a valuable role in society. But I also think that the government should not fund the training of Catholic leaders over other religions......in modern times???!!

Does anyone know the story with this?

You have confused human consciousness with a primitive description of it as "spirit". I think the training and employment of doctors, surgeons, counsellors, psychologists and the provision of mental health education is far more important than what you praise.

No. The British Government used to fund it, but the Irish State has not done so.

There are three universities on the campus. The NUI one, St. Pats (which is for theology students) and the seminary. There might be a fourth one because Froebel moved there a few years ago but I don't know if it's a separate entity).

Priests all do two degrees. The first one is a regular BA/BSc/etc.... They do that through the NUI. Whilst they do that they live for free in the Seminary. The church pays any fees they may have. If they're eligible for free fees, the government pays for it otherwise the church pays for it. Afterwards they do a BDiv. That's in the seminary. The church pays for that too.

So yes, the state can pay for part of it. But the state is just paying for a degree they same they would for anyone else. The degree that priests need to be a priest, the BDiv, is fully funded by the church.

Who pays for the drugs and sex orgies in the seminary? Lived in Maynooth for a while in the 80s and even then there were stories of certain members of the seminary taking advantage of the young student priests at the many parties held behind the seminary walls.
