Posting that a boxer came 5th just doesn't seem right. Not right in the sense of how a swimmer or runner comes 5th

Just watched an interview with Bianca Walkden on Youtube. British Judo bronze medallist.
She came back from 2 ACL injuries to compete in Rio.
Loved the accent and down to earth attitude.
It's people like that I admire wrt to Olympics.

Yes I saw her being interviewed on BBC1 late last night after she won the bronze (in Taekwondo in fact). She's a great girl, from Liverpool and very down to earth.

    Yeah let's hope so.

Are the Paralympics shown live on normal tv?

Only in detail by Channel 4 in the UK. I think RTE have a nightly highlights package though.

The coverage of the 2012 Paralympics was really good. Loved the highlights show with the Aussie presenter, he was fun and very easy to listen to, hope he's back again.

They have to qualify to reach that stage tbf. Less places

I know, that's why I specified at the game themselves. But all athletes had to qualify.

They said that they will actually be broadcasting from Rio itself. The three of them have done really well out of the 2012 program. It was a great idea from C4.

Same here I reckon I'll wait to see team Ireland come out and then off to bed.

Thanks to you all fellow posters for a fantastic thread which truly enriched my experience of these Olympics :)

This is like the Euro vision from 30 years ago. Olympics truly over. Great thread though. :)

I'm here too. The sound is actually much better on RTE2.....the BBC one is atrocious and I think they're just playing it as heard through the speakers in the stadium

That stadium looks and sounds suspiciously short on spectators......I can see many empty seats in the background

And we saw the O'Donovans and Scott Evans :)

I wonder if Annalise and Thomas Barr are there?

The O'Donovans and Scott Evans. What a night it would be on the raz with those lads!

I think only one of the O'Donovans is there, the other lad is at the world/European rowing championships (You think they'd have held off on them starting until the Olympics are fully over)

Checking social media and Thomas Barr is definitely there and it seems Annalise Murphy too :)
