As far as I know it will be need the CVRT (doe) before taxing it. The motor tax will be back dated to the month of purchase

you have 21 days from date of purchase to SORD the vehicle. If it's not too late you can do this online and save yourself the back tax.

Presuming it is a commercial jeep for commercial purposes.
You do have to have a current CVRT (DOE), before being able to get a commercial vehicle taxed.
When you do go to get it taxed for the first time you will also need to bring your insurance cert showing that you have commercial insurance, you will also need to bring a declaration, stamped at the garda station, stating its for commercial purposes only in order to get the commercial vehicle tax rate. Otherwise you will be taxing it privately at private vehicle rates based on the size of the engine.
