Hi all. I plan on doing the Dublin Marathon in October and am wondering what effect doing the back to back monaghan phoenix marathons in early October would have on my time in Dublin. If I was to do them I would be doing them at my long run pace. Being 4 weeks out from Dublin do you think they would have a major effect on Dublin? All opinions appreciated.

Its not ideal prep if you are looking to hit a time/PB in Dublin. Anytime I have gone for a PB/Time over the Marathon I would stop running marathons for 12 weeks prior.

Yes, doing back-to-back marathons 4 weeks from Dublin, even at a slow pace, will in all likelihood have a major impact on your time in Dublin.

If you're used to running back-to-back marathons or ultras then the effect might be be relatively small but even then it's not ideal preparation.

Either ditch the idea of back-to-back marathon or accept that you won't be at your best in Dublin.
