If it wasn't for the Russian cheats controversy and Zika I'd hardly have known the supposedly biggest regular event in the world was about to start. Am I the only one who hardly gives a toss and is unlikely to bother with it (except for the sprint replays cos they are often funny for the botched change overs)?

Apparently the International Olympic Committee have trademarked a whole load of #hashtags relating to the games. Any athlete who's (non IOC partnered) sponsors tweet even good luck at the #OlympicGames or similar risks being thrown out.

It's easier now to ignore that it's on but it's still getting news coverage and I think I noticed a load of BBC red button channels showing on satellite

But no you're not, I've no interest in the majority of the sports so I'll not be watching too often.

I don't really get why people do that tbh, just because they're Irish competing they'll watch & cheer and act interested.
There's Irish people participating in countless things yet nobody bothers with it.

I love the Olympics Love watching the sports that you dont normally see. I have no interest in watching the tennis, or golf or soccer, if i wanted to watch the best of the best in these sports I'd watch the US masters, or Wimbledon. It's the syncronised diving, triple jump, gymnastics, speed cycling etc. that interest me.

Such a shame they picked a place like Rio which has caused so much controversy. Plus it's like 15 hours behind where I am so I have no idea what time stuff will be on tv
