House fit out from Poland

Hi I am in the middle of a house build and am trying to decide whether to buy sanitary ware, electrical fittings - lights, sockets, etc, furniture, beds, mattresses in Poland. My plans would be to go to Wroclaw, Warsaw or Krakow, choose, buy and arrange shipping back to Ireland. The likes of Leroy's seems good value too.

Has anyone done this? I am hearing two sets of opinions for and against. Thanks

A polish friend of mine is building a house at home. He is buying paint, flooring and lots of other things here in Ireland and shipping them over. They're working out cheaper here and driving them over than getting stuff in Poland. He is a builder and reckons stuff is cheaper and better quality here too.

    Wouldn't sockets cause an issue?

Yes sockets would be an issue:) Didn't mean to include them.

We have friends renovating and they are buying from Poland, but they do speak the language. The shipping time can take a bit longer but it definitely works out cheaper. We ended up buying our bathroom sanitary wear from the North as it was considerably cheaper than here (radiators were less than half price, the toilet was €75 against €235) and they could meet the delivery times that Poland couldn't on this occasion. We've ordered our kitchen splash back tiles from Poland though, and expect them in about 3 weeks.

Thanks for that. I hadnt really thought of the North.

Hi, I'm from poland and I'm buying things there frequently for myself or my friends. They are much cheaper, even less than half for things like windows, doors, blinds, furniture or appliances. But remember about differences in standards and warranty issues.
You can also find here polish people who import those things to Ireland and they are still much cheaper.
If you have any questions PM me please.
