Boiler pressure

Bulex boiler has been loosing pressure resulting in no hot water or heat. Technicians have come and replaced various bits - but the pressure keeps dropping. Last guy found a faulty valve, replaced it and as the apartment is now empty he turned off the unit. That was over a week ago and I've gone back and turned the boiler on and it is maintaining the 1.4 bars that he set it at. My question is.... is it maintaining the pressure because it's been turned off or can I finally be confident that the problem is really solved? Or to put it another way...would the pressure still fall if the boiler was turned off. Thanks to anyone who can answer this. It's a topic that is covered extensively online but I couldn't find an answer to this particular scenario.

If there was a leak, then I would expect the pressure to drop off to some degree.
However, there still may be an issue that occurs during the time the boiler is running, due to heating / cooling (expansion / contraction).
Run the boiler for a few hours over the next few days and allow to cool fully and re-check the pressure to see if there is any loss.

    Just to add to k.flyer,
If the problem is your expansion vessel/safety valve then the water will only escape once the boiler is on for a while and the pressure increases.
Check your gauge after the boiler has been on for 30 mins and then 1hr. The gauge shouldn't rise above 2bar.
This is a very basic fault and I'd be surprised if the people you had out to the boiler missed this, but you never know
