Rick O 'Shea started in 2001, and I think Ruth Scott did a show with him around that time.

Dan Hegarty and Cormac Battle started around the same time in 2003, so it's not them.

According to Google, Will Leahy is there since the '90s.

Will Leahy was doing overnights in the '90's and his Saturday Show would have started in '99 or 2000 I'd say.

dave fanning is there longest after larry I know he left but he came back.

Fanning featured on Ireland's first official national pop music station, RTÉ Radio 2 (now referred to as RTÉ 2fm), which was launched in the summer of 1979. He began presenting each Sunday at midnight.

He never really left because during his 3 years at Radio 1, he still did a once a week voicetracked show on 2fm.

    So would it be:

    - Larry Gogan
    - Dave Fanning
    - Will Leahy
    - Rick O'Shea and Ruth Scott
    - Dan Hegarty and Cormac Battle
    - Jenny Greene
    - Breakfast Republic crew
    - Nicky Byrne
    - Eoghan McDermot
    - Chris and Ciara
    - Tracy Clifford

I'm probably forgetting some people on that list, and most likely the last lot are out of order...

EDIT: Immediately after posting I just remembered the following:
    - Game On presenters (don't know name)
    - Louise McSherry
    - Friday night chart show presenter
    - Lottie Ryan

Going back to the original post, which was the longest serving after Larry Gogan and Dave Fanning, it looks like Will Leahy might be the answer. Colm Hayes, even if he was still here, would be debated as he originally was on 2FM between 1998 and 1989, but was gone from 1989 to 2006. As he is leaving, we won't have to have that convoluted argument!

However, it is really Will Leahy? When did Mr. Spring, aka Tim Hannigan, in the dance scene, join 2FM? I think he could have joined between 1995 and 1996. If this is the case, I think he might be there longer than Will Leahy. When did Will join?

Will would have joined in or around then I reckon. Mid 1990's. I remember him doing a stint on GB FM in the early '90's and back then he was "Willie Leahy" ;)

Will Leahy started on 2FM in late Summer 1996, as part of the live overnights 2am to 6am, along with the existing presenters in that slot at that time were:

Gerard Gogan, Gerry Wilson, Bob Conway, Mike Ryan, Shane O’Donoghue and Suzanne Duffy

They did at least one overnight per week

What about the producers on 2FM?:

Michael Cahill (started same time on 2FM as Leahy, no longer presents or even fills in on 2FM anymore)

Ian Wilson (been with 2FM since early 80s as a producer)

Aidan Leonard (started in 2FM 1992 as presenter, was producing Colm and Jim Jim up to 2010, used to fill in for Larry Gogan up to last year, now in charge of RTE Gold) I don't think Aidan has any connection with 2FM anymore.

Any other producers there from 80's/90's??.

    What about other presenters?:

Alan McQuillan who fills in occasionally on 2FM has been there since 2003.

Ronan McCaul who fills in occasionally (though not recently) on 2FM has been there since 2006.

John Kenny who sometimes presents 2FM's "Game On" joined 2FM in around 1988, when it went 24 hours.

Mr. Spring I think used to do dance stuff producing on 2FM since mid 90's as mentioned above, but only got his own show in 1999 (and still has that show) when Mickey Mac left for Lyric FM.

Michael "the kid" Cahill as Tony Fenton used to call him. He had various prime slots over the years and tbh I didn't mind him, but his listenership figures were abysmal afaik. And he's still there. Only in the public service...

I didn't know that the kid Cahill was back producing the weekday afternoon show, last i heard he was moved to weekends with Rick and Cormac. What is Ian Wilson producing these days ?

Yes Michael Cahill is the producer of Treacy Clifford show.

Ian Wilson was the main producer of Breakfast Republic when it started, not sure if he still is.

I remembered that Ruth scottie left for about 2 years to be a sidekick on the 98fm breakfast show, around late summer 2003.

Regarding the well known author Emma Hannigan who passed away today RIP, her brother is long serving 2FM dance presenter Mr. Spring (Tim Hannigan) who has been consistently on the Saturday night schedule since 1999. Tim has been with 2FM in one form or another since 1997 or possibly a few years before this. He used to fill in for Dave Fanning in the mid-late 90's and early 00's.

Tim Hannigan, aka Mr. Spring, was involved in a few pirates (mainly dance pirates) in the first half of the '90s. At least two of the pirates were Sunset FM and its successor Rhythm FM. I can't recall whether or not he was with the subsequent successor Hot 107. I understand he co-hosted a dance show at some point with Mark Kavanagh on general music pirate DLR. Tim and Mark started their own record label called Red Records to put out Irish dance music. In many cases, they were the dance acts themselves, using various names, the best known being The Sound Crowd! They performed, and/or wrote and/or produced and/or engineered various tunes under their own record label.

Indeed very sad, timmy has himself battled cancer himself over the years.

That's some jump from Sat night dance slot to Lyric FM!

I'm convinced Ruth Scott is there since the mid-late 90s?

She is no longer on 2FM.
Though started there in around 1998 and left around 2003 for 98FM, returned to 2FM a year or so later until her departure in late 2016.
