I want to complete a gel nail and eye lash extension course. A company in Waterford do the gel nails €550 over 3 days- is this the standard price?

Lash extension course -1 day, in Dublin on 28th August €125- other companies charging €550-650 for this course.

Any advice, recommendations or info would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind travelling. I am based in Kilkenny

I've been looking at these for my daughter recently and that seems the going rate. There's a one day course run by hairspray @250 but how much experience would you receive in one day? I'd rather pay the extra for her get a good course and a recognised qualification

    Hi Tracey,

I just emailed Hairspray now to find out more details.
I guess the experience comes with practice. That is where you will come in!

Have you made inquiries about the lash extension courses?

Presumably you want to be able to offer gel nail services to the paying public? Most reputable gel nail tech courses require you to already have a recognised manicure & pedicure qualification that covers basic nail health and safety issues unless the course offers a manicure qualification too.

Look for training that's approved by a professional gel brand such as CND (Shellac), Young Nails, Nail Harmony Gelish, etc. Accredited just means that the training company has paid an insurance company to offer professional liability cover to successful students. It doesn't offer any proof of quality.

The leading professional forum covering all things hair & beauty for the professional is salongeek.com. It's based in the UK but has members worldwide. You could ask on there for brand training recommendations.

I hope this helps you with your research.

Just noticed that one of you is in Baltimore, West Cork?

Noreen O'Connor is a CND Education Ambassador, based in Cork. Probably one of the leading CND Nail tech trainers in the country! If your daughter is serious about training professionally, I'd strongly recommend going down the CND route as its an internationally recognised leading brand.

Im not based in cork. I'm based in Dublin. My daughter wants to do gel nails or acrylic nails not shellac

CND do gels and acrylics and are a highly recognised and respected brand.
She will also need a cert in manicure and pedicure before doing a gel nail course.
